New pilot fatigue rules could create pilot jobs

Sweeping changes have been made to the rules governing how much time US commercial pilots must have off between shifts, to ensure that the pilots are in optimum conditions for flying.

The changes were announced by the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Wednesday. They now require pilot jobs to provide at least a 10-hour rest period for workers before a flight duty period – up from the eight hours required by the previous rules.

The Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood, said that the changes would also require for commercial pilots to have the opportunity of having eight hours of uninterrupted sleep during the 10-hour resting period. Read more…

Eternally Stagnant Recruitment and Some Ideas to Overcome It

Recruiting never seems to change very much. As I have often written, even with computers, smart phones, cheap video, big bandwidth, and years of accumulated experience, the way we look for people and select them looks very much the same as it looked 50 years ago.

The question is: why haven’t these tools and technologies made any significant difference?

If we look at other professions, it is clear that technology is not what makes the real difference. Take building as an example. Using only primitive hand tools, carpenters and masons from Roman times on crafted buildings that are enduring and emulated. T

In states where the law prohibits practitioners from practicing independent of physicians, they work as employees in the physician’s clinics and can offer treatment and prescriptions under the physician’s guidance.

Nurse practitioners diversify their operations and can function as therapists in different conditions. They are preferred in therapeutic treatments since they can combine treatment and therapy services.

To Err is Human; Making up for it in a way that strengthens your brand, divine.

Businesses spend millions of dollars every year to create bigger, louder, and more unique and memorable marketing experiences to attract new clients. They work to carefully and painstakingly plan out touchpoints and client journeys, engagements and events, with the goal of hitting just the right note at just the right time when they’re trying to win you over to their brand.

But while that’s all fine and good – for us and for them – it’s only half of the equation. The other half is how your brand responds after a messed up a client interaction.

A significant part of your brand’s reputation is built on what you do after you’ve made a mistake.

Why do we need time off?

When I used to write about the retail sector many years ago there was one major truism — the only people who worked on Thanksgiving were those poor workers who had to help run the Macy’s parade.

It was just bad taste to sell stuff on a day when the whole nation was supposed to be giving thanks for things beyond the material.

Well, this Thanksgiving ushered in a whole new world thanks to retailers who felt you all wanted to shop before you even digested your turkey. One employee at Target tried to fight this by posting a web petition to stop the injustice of working on such an important day. Ant
