A senior telco executive from China is joining Telstra’s board.
United States-educated Tim Chen and has been a president of Motorola in China and, for four years, a Microsoft regional chief executive.
Currently, he sits on the board of three China-based companies and is a partner with international private equity firm GL Capital Group.
“Tim’s career experience aligns well with our strategic growth areas, particularly in our Asian and network applications and services businesses,” Telstra chairman Catherine Livingstone said in a statement on Friday.
“Tim brings broad technology, strategic and business experience working with private and public sector entities.
“We are very pleased to have him joining the Telstra board.”
Chen will join the board on April 1, but his appointment will require shareholder approval at the telco’s annual general meeting in October.
