Administrator makes a “significant” number of redundancies
Staff at modular contractor Britspace have today been informed they are out of work after frantic negotiations to find a buyer over the weekend failed.
Administrators FRP Adivsory said in a statement it had had to make “significant” redundancies at the Yorkshire-based specialist, which had 200 staff.
Last week administrator David Thornhill said nine firms had met him to discuss acquiring Britspace, following 31 expressions of interest.
But talks over the weekend failed to result in a satisfactory bid for the firm.

Aerospace and defense firms will fill 31,800 jobs this year, according to Aviation Week’s 15th annual Workforce and Young Professionals/Student Study.
The study, which is the aviation industry’s official report and a reference point for trend analysis within the aviation jobs industry, said that the number of filled jobs will rise from 19,500 last year.

Tax collectors say they are targeting 600 further tax evaders
The government has arrested five plumbers in a crackdown on tax evasion by HM Revenue and Customs.
HMRC said it arrested the “ghost plumbers” in raids in London, Hampshire, Surrey, Twickenham and West Bromwich for not declaring the income from the work they carried out.
It said it was continuing to investigate 600 plumbers following a campaign to persuade them to get their tax affairs in order, and will carry out further raids in Yorkshire, Kent, Cambridgeshire, Tyne & Wear, the Midlands, and South Wales.
